DEAR SUPERSTAR
Hailing from the industrial wastelands of Manchester (UK), gutter rock n rollers Dear Superstar
combine their passion for 80’s hard rock with the power and bile of modern metal.
Riding their unscrupulous and depraved rollercoaster into sold out venues across the UK and
Europe, Dear Superstar have destroyed stages supporting the likes of Papa Roach, Buckcherry,
Bullet For My Valentine, Hanoi Rocks and Wednesday13 – helping to build their foundations
as the UK’s brightest hope for lecherous Rock N Roll.
With their unquenchable thirst for life on the road, Dear Superstar recorded their album
“Heartless” with producer Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For A Friend, Bullet for my Valentine,
Kids in Glass Houses) to document years of touring and a graphic confession of the band's
lifestyle of unbridled mayhem. This sparked a unique relationship with legendary rock independent
label Demolition/DR2 Records who went on to release the album in October 2008!
Dear Superstar burst straight back onto the live circuit in 2009 supporting Papa Roach and after wowing crowds on the sold-out tour, were quickly confirmed to appear at the iconic Download Festival 2009.
With "Heartless" now available in all major record stores and a relentless touring schedule the UK’s premier rock n roll disasters are taking no prisoners!
Micky Satiar born 31st August 1981 in Rossendale, Lancashire, England. He is the singer of Dear Superstar. Having grown up through the 1980’s he has cited Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Skid Row and Johnny Cash as his main influences. Bringing those influences into the 21st century he formed bands in different guises with life-long friend Adam Smethurst as singer and guitarist since 1994. Micky Satiar has an uncommon passion for music and a never surrender attitude to life, truly living by the saying “Life is about the journey, not the destination”
Adam Smethurstborn 8th November 1980 in Rossendale, Lancashire, England. He is the lead guitarist of Dear Superstar. Born in the same hospital and living on the same street as Micky, made the guitarist and vocalist inseparable. Starting his first band, comically named "Death Maiden" illustrates his early love for heavy metal. Coupled with Adam’s shared love for the blues with his father, saw a childhood of listening to B.B King, Jimmy Reed, ZZ Top, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton –so picking up a Les Paul Standard on his 10th birthday was just the beginning.
Benj Ashmead born 24th October 1985 in Rossendale, Lancashire, England. He is the drummer of Dear Superstar. Growing up listening to his mothers LP’s of Led Zepplin, Bob Marley and Bob Dilan gave Benj an early passion for “real” music. Later meeting Micky and Adam at the age of 12, he began sneaking himself into rock venues and clubs for the chance to release his teenage angst and anger onto any drum-kit he could get behind. The untimely loss of his father and brother, sparked a brotherly bond between his band members; Ashmead often comments “My band mates are my family – don’t fuck with them because I will never let it lie”
Stew Milton born 27th February 1985 in Bury, Lancashire, England. He is the rhythm guitarist of Dear Superstar. Picking up a double bass, handed down from his late uncle started an eclectic calling to instruments such as bass, guitar, drums and keyboard. Later joining a college band as the Drummer, he always still had the thirst and desire to be a guitarist. After meeting Benj on a sound engineering course, he was invited to jam with Micky and Adam, with Benj on drums. The connection was instant and his zeal for rock n roll instantly gelled. A self confessed junky for rock n roll – Stew loves every moment as his last.
Amadeus born 2nd August 1984 in Preston, England. Christened "Christopher Amadeus Ian Hodgson", Amadeus always took his second given name for its links to music. Having played in bands with school friends, he took the opportunity to audition for Dear Superstar in 2006. Learning a back catalogue of Dear Superstar tracks from almost inaudible recordings in legendary time spelled his first tour with the band in Finland. Soon to be described as “instantly loveable” and “a true Superstar” by the bands tour manager. Amadeus has a tattoo of a pirate with the word “Vanity” scrawled beneath it – a perfect testamony.
